Who licenses residential detox in California

The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) licenses residential facilities that provide detoxification and related recovery services. That is a different stack from a general acute-care hospital license (CDPH) and from a sober-living house that may have no treatment license at all.

If a site cannot give you a DHCS number, treat the page as advertising.

What to look up — our example

Search that number on DHCS’s facility tools. The address on the state file should match the address on the door. If a locator shows us in Anaheim, Temecula, or Santa Ana, the locator is wrong — we publish city pages for drive times, not extra licenses.

License vs Drug Medi-Cal certification

A DHCS residential license is not automatically a Drug Medi-Cal (DMC-ODS) contract. County Access lines (RUHS in Riverside County, DBH in San Bernardino County, OC Health Care Agency in Orange County) authorize those beds.

We verify commercial PPO insurance. We do not tell Medi-Cal families that our private bed is their county benefit.
